- In a pot, warm 2 cups of coconut evaporated milk over low heat (do not boil).
- Add ¾ cup of sugar to the milk and stir until dissolved.
- Add the ground cardamom, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves to the milk mixture. Set aside.

Cooking the Cream of Wheat
- In another pot, melt 4 tablespoons of plant-based butter over medium heat.
- Add 1 cup of cream of wheat to the melted butter and begin parching, stirring frequently until it turns slightly brown (about 10 to 15 minutes).

- Gradually add the warm milk mixture to the parched cream of wheat a little at a time, stirring continuously. Be careful as it will bubble up.
- Stir in the maraschino cherries (or raisins if you prefer) until evenly distributed.
